After a few days visiting in tropical Toronto, we've made it home. But what's with the snow? We should have stayed away a bit longer!
Thanks to all who helped us with advice and for all the comments and e-mail we received along the way.
Now it's laundry time, sorting the mail and trying the remember where stuff is.
After living out of bags for the last four months it's a treat to wear something different.
If we had visited colder climates we'd need more stuff, but it's been shorts and tee-shirts for the most part.
You might be asking about the highlights of our trip. There were many but some stand out.
- First realizing what we were doing probably kicked in Capetown.
- Meeting lots of great people.
- Sitting by a waterhole in Namibia at night watching the animals slowly and cautiously approach.
- Lions and leopards and cheetahs and elephants and baboons and zebras and wilderbeasts, oh my!
- Charged by a rhino.
- Southern stars.
- Streets and markets of Bangkok.
- Floating down the Mekong on a long boat.
- Night Markets in Laos and Cambodia.
- Jungles and the Great Barrier Reef.
- Christmas carols in Adelaide.
- Kangaroos and Wallabies on Kangaroo Island.
- Sydney downtown and beaches.
- Climbing the Sydney bridge
- Driving in New Zealand, especially the South Island - woo-hoo!
- Milford Sound.
- Bungy!
- The bus over the Andes from Santiago to Mendoza.
- Mendoza wine bike tour.
- Mamalluca Observatory in Chile.
- Having our ATM card cancelled in the middle of 'nowhere'. Twice in one week!
- Rain in the driest place on earth (Atacama)
- Argentinian beef - yummy!
- Galloping with gauchoes.
- Iguazu Falls.
- The streets of Buenos Aires.
That's all for now folks!
Ciao!
Welcome home! Glad you made it back safe and sound. Hope the transition will be quick and painless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a bucket list! (apart from being charged by a rhino)...and to think, you've checked them all off and you're still so young! So many stories to tell (like being charged by a rhino). Put a rocker out on the back deck, take up smoking a pipe, and we'll all be over to be regaled with your tales of adventure and wondrous sights. Can't wait.
