Hong Kong
We had a long stop over in Hong Kong enroute to Bangkok so we hopped on the Airport Express train to take a look at the place.
Hong Kong is very very clean, feels safe, easy to get around (at least for us) and not as crowded as we expected.
The downtown is full of modern, interesting building.
This one is nicknamed the Koala building
This one is huge. I think it's the headquarters of the finance department or regulators.
And another from the harbour
Apples!
The city is surrounded by greenery
There's a few older buildings left
And some getting a face lift. All the scaffolding is bamboo!
We went to Victoria Park, an oasis in the city. It was full of joggers, tai chi'ers and people enjoying the weather (which was very pleasant)
A fan dance by the model boat pond.
Of course you need a few rules
Street scenes
This is an old tram line (with a updated paint job) that runs thru the center of the city. It was endangered a few years ago but the people spoke out to save it.
The alleys are full of vendors
He still has some fans
Lanterns
Running throughout downtown are a series of elevated pedistrian walkways
We went to the Computer Center (Dave gets to shop too!). Imagine the 100's of little computer shops on College St in Toronto crammed into an office building. What fun!
We caught the Star ferry to Kowloon.
These have been around for a long time.
Hong Kong has a bustling harbour, with the small
and the larger
'Made in Hong Kong'? It probably came thru here.
It's Christmas in Kowloon!
That's it for Hong Kong, and back to the airport.
Next stop Bangkok!

Hong Kong looks like a wonderful city. Glad you got a chance to take it in. That ferry looks a little top heavy, though. Glad you survived to tell the tale:)
